Psychological Testing & Diagnosis

We offer in-person and teletherapy options in select locations.

A consultation with Dr. Fox is a meeting to help you identify ‘if’ and ‘what’ mental health consultations may be present as they relate to your past and present issues and experiences.  During the consultation we will examine your core content and surface content and provide you with recommendations and tactical tips to help you gain greater understanding of yourself and your behaviors.

Individual Therapy

We offer in-person and teletherapy options.

Individual therapy (sometimes called psychotherapy, talk therapy, or individual psychological treatment) is a process through which we work with clients one-on-one in a safe, caring, and confidential environment. We work with couples, adolescents, young adults, and older adults. Dr. Fox and Ms. Phillips focus on personality disorders, anxiety, depression, substance abuse, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and trauma.

We use a culturally sensitive therapeutic approach to treatment that emphasizes the understanding of our clients’ background and belief system as it relates to their race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, or other important elements that make up their culture and/or identity.

Group Therapy

We are currently adding members to our Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Social Anxiety Reduction groups.  Ms. Phillips is DBT certified and runs groups that have no more than 3 members at any given time.

DBT Group (Texas residents only)

Dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) is a comprehensive, evidence-based treatment for borderline personality disorder (BPD) and other disorders, such as anxiety, depression, and trauma. DBT is based on cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) but has been specially adapted to treat individuals who suffer from extremely intense emotions. DBT is used to help individuals who are struggling to identify and positively change negative thinking and behavior patterns.

In this group you will be taught positive, healthy ways to deal with your stress and general emotions that occur from daily situations and improve your overall relationships with loved ones and regulate your emotions. The goal of DBT is to identify, change and help you cope with negative and unhealthy behavior patterns and emotions, particularly during social situations.

The DBT women’s therapy group teaches you and helps you practice new skills, while providing helpful and encouraging feedback and supportive opportunities of feeling heard within a nonjudgmental environment. As a group member you can share your experiences and be provided insights and suggestions for coping with challenging situations in your life with family, romantic partners, coworkers, etc.

Social Anxiety Reduction Group (Texas resident only)

Everyone experiences some level of social anxiety. At times we all feel shy, stuck, scared, or hesitant in social situations. Social anxiety is a normal part of life in most instances. For some people, the intensity level of social anxiety can be incredibly problematic making it difficult to function.

Group therapy for social anxiety has been shown to be an effective treatment for this disorder. The Social Anxiety Reduction Group will teach you:

  • how to understand your social anxiety
  • help you build anxiety management skills
  • social engagement and assertiveness skills
  • learn to recognize and embrace your unique strengths and skills

Adolescent and Adult Psychological Testing

Psychological testing can help you identify those issues that adversely impact how you think, feel, and see the world. It is also effective if you’re thinking of starting therapy, as this helps to clearly identify those concerns to be addressed in treatment, as opposed to spending valuable therapy time trying to find out what you should and need to be focusing on.

Psychological testing is not only for initial diagnosis but can provide information on the severity of your identified mental health symptoms and provide a second opinion to the presence or absence of a disorder or disorders. This is helpful because it can provide you with insight into not only the worsening or improving of symptoms, but confirm or disconfirm diagnoses, that impact many facets of your life and relationships.

We do this through using valid and reliable psychological assessments to identify mental health symptoms and conditions, as well as any personality related traits. We will also identify your maladaptive schemas, these are your blueprints for seeing yourself, others, and your life, that you developed growing up. Lastly, we will identify your readiness for treatment and change. Although we recognize issues and problems, everyone feels differently about tackling these issues. Having this insight and being provided strategies to enhance your readiness and manage your mental health issues and your life can be pivotal to achieving your personal and relationship goals.
